The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria at one of its meetings in 2006 mooted and approved the idea of setting up zones by grouping existing district societies in some locations together. In the case of western zone, ten (10) district societies were brought together under the zonal arrangement The main objective is to bring the Institute closer to the generality of members particularly those who cannot afford the cost at which some of the national programs are organized. In order words, the zones are introduced to bridge the gap between the Institute and members generally. According to the concept, the zones are expected to organise programs at affordable prices to encourage participation without lowering standards.
